Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling-type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, between two competitors or sparring partners, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into other martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand combat systems.
Wrestling is considered one of the hardest and most complete sports in the world as it tests an individuals physical ability and mental fortitude against another equally capable individual. Wrestling is also an universal sport as all cultures of the world practice some form of wrestling, its a skill that will shape the individual athlete and teach them how to persevere in all of life's adversities be it on the mats or not. Wrestling much like Judo is a key component in guaranteeing the takedown, or throw, and getting the fight to the ground, where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu takes over.
